No heat
A blown thermal fuse, failed heating element, broken igniter or bad gas valve coils are the usual causes.
Takes too long to dry
Often a clogged vent or a weak heating element. A blocked vent is also a fire risk, so it's worth checking.
Won't start
Door switch, start switch, thermal fuse or a broken drive belt can all stop a dryer from running.
Squeaking or thumping
Worn drum rollers, idler pulley or drum glides. Caught early, it's an inexpensive repair.
Drum won't turn
